Five days of cultural immersion with novelists, poets, dancers, actors, illustrators, activists, musicians, artists and thinkers.

The Ake Art and Book Festival presents the fourth edition of a festival dedicated to celebrating culture, themed, “Beneath The Sun” featuring novelists, poets, dancers, actors, illustrators, activities, musicians, artists and thinkers to share their work and ideas. It will run from November 15,2016 to November 19,2016  at the arts and culture centre, Kuto, Abeokuta Ogun State, Nigeria.

Being the first African to win the Nobel Prize in literature in the year 1986, Professor Wole Soyinka put Nigeria on the world map and has since remained globally recognised.  Also, the works of iconic writer,  Professor Chinue Achebe,  has widely and greatly contributed in successfully drawing international recognition to Nigerian authors as well as African authors, making both Nigeria and Africa proud.

They have paved the way for younger generations of emerging Nigerian authors like Teju Cole, Chigozie Obioma and Lola Shoneyin, making waves, clinching prizes/laurels and receiving invitations to literary festivals internationally.

The exhibition will feature the outstanding works of 18 eminent authors. Conversations will be focused on Identity, Race and Individuality. The exhibition aims to promote, develop and celebrate creativity in the African Continent.

The Ake Art and Book Festival will offer opportunities for visitors and book lovers to participate in a range of art workshops, talks and share creative ideas in a contemporary culture.
